I used to think L-Arginine was only for people who worked out and wanted to get jacked!

What is it and why do you need it?
L-Arginine, or simply Arginine, is an essential amino acid that is necessary for the body’s production of nitric oxide, a compound that relaxes blood vessels and allows more blood to flow through arteries. Typically, you will see it in the form of a compound, like L-arginine HCI.
This amino acid is necessary for our body – it forms proteins that are necessary for humans to function because every cell in the human body contains protein. This protein provides us with energy!
Arginine can be found in many foods, such as meat, fish, nuts and seeds, legumes, whole grains, and dairy products. When you can’t get all your arginine from foods, likely due to food intolerances or specific diets like vegetarianism or veganism, you may need to supplement with powders or pills to hit your needs.

We know that L-Arginine is one of the most effective supplements available for helping enhance blood flow and muscle growth, but what about the rest of us? I like to workout, but I don’t have any aspirations of being on any physique or bodybuilding magazine covers.
No need to be a bodybuilder! Not only is it great for workouts, but it can also be used for chest pain and other blood flow issues, erectile dysfunction, heart failure, migraines, high blood pressure during pregnancy, and anti-aging!
What shocked me the most was the anti-aging benefit, so I dug a little deeper. It turns out it can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by keeping your skin firm, plumping, and smoothing! Arginine hydrates dry skin and can restore moisture, much like collagen. In fact, Arginine is known to boost collagen production in your skin, which is the skin’s first line of defense against premature aging. Not only is it great for your skin, but arginine also does wonders for your sex life. I haven’t come across too many studies regarding women’s sex lives improving, however, a lot of the studies done have been on the effects of arginine on men, specifically erectile dysfunction (ED).
L-arginine help to make proteins, but it also becomes nitric oxide (a gas) in the body.
