As 2022 comes to a close, many of us can look back and say that we have learned a lot from the past year. While the pandemic still isn’t over, we’ve seen an improvement in the overall severity of it worldwide. Coronavirus was monumental in reminding so many of us just how important it is to take care of our health and wellness. With increased technology, advancement in sciences, and more desire to take our health into our own hands, we have seen a lot of breakthroughs in wellness.

The definition of wellness is expanding. For a long time many thought health was just about eating well and exercising, but now we’re learning that it’s so much more than that. With wellness it’s important that we find what works best for us – physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

With a new year coming up, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share some of the most innovative and interesting health and wellness trends to look our for in 2023. There are constantly new ways to improve and we can’t wait to share some of them with you. Keep on reading to learn more!

Cold therapy:

Chances are, if you’re on social media and involved in the health and wellness world you’ve seen all the talk about cold therapy and ice baths right now. People are referring to cold therapy as a “secret health weapon” due to the host of benefits it provides. Some of the reported perks people have reported from cold therapy include decreased inflammation, better mood, improved sleep, and enhanced recovery from exercise. Cold therapy can be done in more than one way, it can even be as simple as taking a quick cold shower once a day.

Nootropics and adaptogens:

The names nootropics and adaptogens don’t just sound cool, their functions are actually pretty amazing. More and more people are looking for natural solutions to optimize their cognitive functioning and nootropics and adaptogens may just be able to help with that. Nootropics are a natural or synthetic substance that claim to boost cognitive function, promote relaxation, or even boost mood. Adaptogens help the body “adapt to” daily stressors and provide more balance. At NutraChamps we have a few products that are nootropic and adaptogen specific such as: Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Neura-Spark, and Lion’s Mane.

More mushrooms:

Maybe you’re just used to cooking with mushrooms as an ingredient in your favorite dish, but what if we told you that many mushrooms are being used for their health properties too? Mushrooms such as lion’s mane, Reishi, Cordyceps, and chaga are all being used in powder, tea, and supplement form for their host of health benefits. These mushrooms have been consumed for over thousands of years but are just now gaining popularity among many.

Optimizing sleep cycles:

Around the globe more and more people are becoming aware of their circadian rhythm. We all have an internal clock that’s built upon the sun cycle. With the lifestyles we lead today, especially with technology being a factor, many of us aren’t living a circadian friendly lifestyle. No need to worry, their are simple ways to make small, daily changes that support a healthier sleep-wake cycle such as enhancing natural light exposure, getting outdoors, and eating your meals at the same times everyday.

Exercise snacking:

This trend is not what you might think it is, to your disappointment it isn’t about eating and snacking at the same time. Exercise snacking is a method of breaking up your day with short bursts of exercise which can help to give you an energy and productivity boost! Exercise snacking involves getting your heart rate up for short periods of time by stair climbing, jogging in place, going for a brisk walk, or doing some pushups. Instead of reaching for an energy drink try exercise snacking. It might just provide you with what you need!

Prioritizing mental wellness:

Mental health is a topic that has been at the forefront of conversation, especially in the past two years. Prioritizing mental wellness isn’t going anywhere for 2023. Some of the ways people are taking care of their mental health now include therapy, somatic healing, nervous system regulation, spirituality, and more! Some workplaces are even offering their employees four day work weeks in order to create more balance and assist in company-wide mental wellness. This trend is sure to be one that continues and hopefully sticks around for the long run.

Brain health:

You can’t talk about mental health without brain health. Although they are both a bit different, they do go hand in hand. A big part of aging and longevity includes taking care of your brain, which is at the root of everything you do. Some of the ways people are taking on optimizing their brain health in 2023 is by drinking less, working out more, and taking supplements that support cognitive health such as omega 3 fish oil, turmeric, b complex, 5-htp, and more!
